In 2011, Lynda Gaudreau and the Compagnie De Brune is sponsoring the young collective Atypique. Two of the collective members, Marie-Pier Bazinet and Élise Bergeron, were apprentices in Lynda Gaudreau’s project OUT OF GRACE in the fall of 2010; they asked her to sponsor them for a Jeunes volontaires project.
“I believe the niche Atypique is working in, which is site-specific work, is waiting to be developed further. Production modes in contemporary dance have changed a lot in the past years. The global economic crisis acting on a new generation of artists, concerned with a more direct audience encounter lead to performing outside traditional, costly venues and to invest alternative spaces with choreography.”
